+ YOUTH COORDINATOR at St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church, Athens, Ga.

+ DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP & MUSIC/ORGANIST at Trinity Episcopal Church, Columbus, Ga.

Full-time year-round  

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in music or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with full range of liturgical music (with preference for candidate familiar with the Anglican/Episcopal tradition).
  • High level of proficiency in playing the organ and other keyboard instruments, directing choirs of children and adult voices, and directing instrumental groups.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken communication.
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and sensitivity in working with and leading children, students and adults in a parish setting.

Responsibilities:

  • With the Rector, plan and implement the worship and music programs of a parish of approximately 700 members (currently two celebrations of the Eucharist Sunday morning, one on Wednesday and another on Thursday, and seasonal and special events and services).
  • Lead and direct parish’s choir programs (currently an adult chancel choir and the Galilee children’s choir)
  • Staff liaison for worship and music committee and program chairs.
  • Administer scholarship program bringing up to 8 students to the parish’s music program from Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music.
  • Administer the annual worship and music program budget and the use of other funds designated for use in these programs.
  • Oversee maintenance of the church’s pianos; Kingston harpsichord; 2-manual, 3-rank Range chapel organ; and, at present, the 4-manual, 52-rank Schantz chancel organ.
  • Represent the parish in the completion of the new 65-rank Letourneau Opus 120, contracted for February 2010.
  • Participate in the parish’s overall long-range planning, and develop and implement worship and music programs in support of the parish’s vision. 

Compensation:

  • $52,000-60,000 per year (dependent upon education level and experience).
  • Continuing education allowance.

+ ORGANIST-CHOIRMASTER at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Family, Jasper, Ga.

+ YOUTH DIRECTOR at Christ Church, Kennesaw, Ga.

Summary: This is full-time position (could possibly be structured as part-time) for a lay or ordained person who can inspire and coordinate all ministries associated with youth (6th to 12th grades) in order to help them grow in their relationship with God and Jesus Christ. The Youth Director should be energetic, spiritually and emotionally mature, compassionate, authentic, open-minded and creative. This person is responsible for youth Christian education, EYC programming, youth group mission trips and other programming related to the youth of the parish.

Responsibilities of the Youth Director:
• Develop an educational plan for the youth program.
• Schedule regular youth group meetings.
• Organize periodic retreats and outings for spiritual and community development. Participation in some overnight and other weekend events may be required.
• Organize Matthew 22 program of monthly community service projects conducted by youth.
• Serve as the ‘point of contact' for Youth Ministry at Christ Episcopal Church.
• Recruit and train strong teams of youth ministry volunteers.
• Manage the youth calendar.
• Advocate youth ministry needs to the Vestry.
• Manage a yearly budget for Youth Ministry.
• Plan and carry out mission trips.
• Organize and execute fund raising projects to offset cost of youth mission trips.
• Communicate well with the youth, parents, and the congregation.
• Coordinate confirmation classes with the Clergy.
• Schedule summer events to maintain the continuity of youth programs.

• Be available for counseling with youth with rector's discretion.
• Serve as the church's contact person for the Episcopal College Ministry (Canterbury Club) at Kennesaw State University. Includes coordinating weekly Eucharist with rector, drafting liturgy, and creating social events in conjunction with KSU student officers and faculty advisor. (10 hours a week)
• Participate in Youth Leader continuing education and Youth Leader enrichment retreats.

Other considerations:
Participation in Sunday worship is highly desirable.

Candidate Skills and Abilities

• Possess knowledge of developmental issues and needs of youth.
• Have a passion for working with young people.
• Be able to organize and execute quality programs.
• Be comfortable sharing information about spiritual journey.
• Demonstrate ability to enjoy and inspire youth to be active in spiritual recreational and service oriented programs and projects.
• Develop program criteria based on worship, fellowship, discipleship, outreach, and evangelism.
• Develop a volunteer group that supports programming for these age groups.
• Advocate youth ministry throughout the parish.
• Possess effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Requirements:
• A Christian who is a disciple of Jesus Christ in a growing relationship with Him.
• Familiarity with the Episcopal Church is plus.
• Above all, applicants need to possess the ability to communicate the Gospel in relevant ways.
• A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the field of youth ministry including implementing programs for youth as well as working with young people, their parents, adult volunteers, lay people, staff, and clergy.
• Experienced with fund raising activities for youth programs and trips.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
