Hispanic ministries conference in Peachtree City

An Episcopal Church conference on Hispanic ministry next week in Peachtree City will feature a visit from Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and draw people from across the church, including Latin America.
Jefferts Schori will preach and preside at a Eucharist Monday, June 30, at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center.
Representing the Diocese of Atlanta will be a contingent of clergy and members of our Hispanic congregations led by the Rev. Canon Isaías Rodríguez and Bishop Keith Whitmore. The conference, titled "A New Dawn: Together We Grow and are Strengthened -- Nuevo Amanecer: Unid@s crecemos y nos fortalecemos, runs through July 3.
The event, the first of its kind in several years, offers education, fellowship and networking and will be conducted bilingually. Hispanic ministry workshops will cover Christian education, prayer and spiritual growth, vocation and the ordination process, starting and sustaining a congregation, evangelism, worship music, stewardship, the church and immigration, and the Millennium Development Goals. A new strategic plan for the development of Hispanic ministry will be presented.
Other guest speakers include Bonnie Anderson, president of the House of Deputies, and the Rt. Rev. Julio Holguin, bishop of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic.
